Tofu ingredients:
- 300 g extra firm tofu
- ⅓ cup cornflour/starch
- 1 nori sheet
- 3 tablespoon olive oil or neutral oil of choice
Sauce ingredients:
- 3 tablespoon tamari/soy sauce
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 garlic gloves minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Cut the tofu into strips as seen in the video. Do not pat the tofu dry, wetter the better so the nori can stick to it!
Use scissors to cut 1-2cm wide strips of nori. The perfect length is half of a nori sheet. Wrap around the centre of the tofu, if it doesn’t stick in place dab some water to help it stick.
Add the cornflour over a wide bowl or plate then coat the tofu pieces.
Bring a large pan to medium heat with the olive oil then fry the tofu on each side for a few minutes until crispy, then remove from the pan.
Turn the pan to medium/low heat then add all the sauce ingredients and let reduce for 1 - 2 minutes. Once it begins to thicken add your tofu back in and toss until the tofu is fully coated in the sauce.
Top off with the sesame and chives and enjoy!!
