3 Reasons why you need to make this Tunacado Bagel

    1. Protein-Packed and Satisfying: Packed with protein from tuna and healthy fats from avocado, this bagel provides a satisfying and nourishing meal that will keep you energized throughout the day.
    2. Quick and Easy to Prepare: With minimal ingredients and simple assembly, this recipe comes together in minutes, making it perfect for busy mornings or when you need a satisfying meal in a pinch.
    3. Versatile and Customizable: The beauty of this recipe lies in its adaptability—you can customize the toppings and seasonings to suit your taste preferences, making it a versatile option for any mealtime.

    Ingredients

    • Tuna in olive oil: Provides protein and omega-3 fatty acids, contributing to a heart-healthy and satisfying meal.
    • Avocado: Adds creaminess and healthy fats, along with vitamins and minerals like potassium and vitamin E.
    • Mayo: Enhances the creaminess of the tuna mixture while adding a rich flavor.
    • Red onion and dill: Add freshness and a pop of flavour to the tuna mixture, complementing the other ingredients.
    • Chilli flakes and sea salt flakes: Provide a hint of spice and seasoning, elevating the overall taste of the bagel.

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

Mix together the tuna and mayonnaise

Add the rest of the ingredients

    Mash with a fork

Hint: My favourite brand of tuna is this one by Sirena

    Substitutions

    1. Mayo: Substitute with Greek yogurt or avocado mayo for a lighter option.
    2. Cheese slices: Omit the cheese slices or replace them with a dairy-free alternative for a vegan option.
    3. Bagels: Substitute with your favorite type of bagel, such as plain, whole wheat, or everything bagels.
    4. Tuna: replace tuna with finely shredded or mashed tofu for a high protein vegetarian option

    Storage

Store the Tunacado mixture separately for up to 2 days.

Healthy, high protein and delicious! Canned tuna is probably the most convenient way to get protein but i honestly don’t get how people can eat it just in chunks straight out of the can. I personally find it so dry like that! So mixing it with mayo and avocado creates the besttt high protein spread that's delicious in a bagel.

Delicious! My quantities were a bit off due to availability (I realised late that I needed something for my office lunch, and got to the supermarket in it's last 15 minutes open), but the flavours were great! I've been making tuna mayo for ages, but I've never thought to add avocado, which I would definitely recommend now!
